The Prime Snowsports team

Meet our experienced team dedicated to helping you have the best possible ski experience during your time on the slopes.

Stephen Down

Qualifications and experience

Stephen is a positive, friendly and motivational ski instructor with a wealth of knowledge and expertise to share with you.

He is fully qualified and holds the BASI Level 4 International Ski Teacher Diploma (ISTD) with Eurotest and European Mountain Safety qualifications. He also holds full French Equivalence.

Stephen has over 20 years of ski teaching, guiding and skiing experience in Courchevel, Meribel and the 3 Valleys ski area. So he knows exactly where to find the good snow and the quieter pistes. He will be able to select the best runs, bumps, couloirs and off piste terrain to suit your skiing level and the conditions. With his knowledge of the excellent restaurants in the area he can also recommend the best places for you to enjoy a good lunch.

Stephen is experienced in teaching all levels of skier — from those taking to the slopes for the very first time to expert level skiers. He has also helped skiers returning to skiing after injury. For those keen to develop their off piste skills and mountain awareness knowledge he can provide practical training in the use of avalanche safety equipment and offer an introduction to ski touring. Stephen is also able to teach cross country skiing in both classic and skating techniques too.
