Stephen Down

Stephen is a positive, friendly and motivational private ski instructor. He has a real passion for skiing and the mountains and a wealth of knowledge and expertise to share with you.

He is fully qualified and holds the BASI Level 4 International Ski Teacher Diploma (ISTD) with Eurotest and European Mountain Safety qualifications. He also has full French Equivalence with the Carte Professionnelle.

Stephen has over 20 years of ski teaching, guiding and skiing experience in the 3 Valleys ski area. So he knows exactly where to find the quieter pistes, good snow and awesome off piste slopes. With his knowledge of the excellent restaurants in the area he can also recommend the best places to lunch.

Stephen is experienced in teaching all levels of skier — from those taking to the slopes for the very first time to expert level skiers. As well as teaching off piste skiing and cross country skiing he also helps skiers returning to skiing after injury or surgery who need to build confidence in a supportive learning environment.

Another area in which he has specialist experience is on the ski equipment side. Stephen has a professional qualification in ski boot fitting and also has an interest in ski set up for optimal skier performance and development.

His other interests include:
Cars, motorsports, design & architecture, hiking, fitness, food and would-be sommelier.
